Birthright Canterbury trustees were delighted to receive a $1500 donation from the Christchurch Airport Community Fund in November.

Birthright, which was one of nine recipients chosen by the Community Fund, has been supporting, strengthening and advocating for families led by one parent in Canterbury since 1963.

“We are very grateful to the Christchurch Airport Community Fund for selecting us as one of the 2016 grant recipients,” says Birthright Canterbury Trust Manager Rhodora Sagles.

The Playhouse Challenge team enjoyed a beautiful morning in the sun, running and walking in the annual Star City 2 Surf, held in Christchurch on Sunday 19th March 2017.

Birthright celebrated 50 years of helping one parent families in Ashburton with plenty of cake and local support in November.

The fledgling branch began back in June 1966 when Ashburton Jaycees called a public meeting with the aim of establishing a branch in the district to provide advice, guidance and assistance to one-parent families.

Birthright soon established itself with a client base of 22 families. Today, Birthright supports 92 families with 169 children in Ashburton.

The Fusion Homes team is delighted to be taking part in the Playhouse Challenge. It’s our way of supporting the Christchurch community by acknowledging and supporting the work of Birthright and the Tenants Protection Association (TPA).

We love that the playhouse is a symbolic reminder of the shelter and housing needs of Christchurch people, and we want to make our playhouse a shining example of efficiency, innovation and design excellence.
