Budget Policy Statement shows more to be done to support families led by one person
Birthright welcomes the recently released Budget Policy Statement for 2021 with its commitment to addressing child poverty and the acknowledgement of disparities between families led by one person and two in some cases.
What is key now is how the government will act to address some of these issues in the upcoming Budget.
Birthright would like to see extra funding for mental health support, a further increase in the Sole Parent Support and a range of measures to improve child poverty such as further investment in affordable housing and education.
LIke many other social service providers, we will be watching the budget process carefully over the next few months.
