Alternatives to Violence Project
  • Originally in prisons but now in the wider community, and in schools through its Help Increase the Peace Project (HIPP - the student version of AVP).  AVP is a private, non-profit educational organisation with a focus on conflict resolution. Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) - to help people reduce the level of violence.

  • Community Links NZ (Inc) is a social service agency based in Upper Hutt Wellington. From its beginnings in 2006 in Titahi Bay we are now based in Upper Hutt. We provide advocacy, budgeting advice, counselling (generic and addictions). We have qualified A&D clinical practitioners and generic counsellors.

HUTT CITY WOMEN'S REFUGE INC
  • The Refuge offers support, advocacy and counselling to women & children who are affected by domestic violence. The Refuge endeavours to provide, and appropriately refer, in a culturally sensitive response. Other services include - court support, legal referral, safe house accommodation, community support, safety plans. Information about protection orders, police response, housing, Income Support and other service providers.

  • Purpose: Helping teenage parents continue their education. Service: Classes in parenting/life skills, as well as ordinary school subjects.

  • Purpose: To provide the Pacific community with meaningful services to empower and allow Pacific families to contribute positively to their families and community. Whanau Family Support Services Trust

  • Purpose:  Providing support for parents facing parenting challenges - no matter how large or small the issue. Skylight Counselling and Support Groups
  • Skylight offers counselling and support groups for children, teens, adults and families who are facing tough times of change, loss, trauma and grief - whatever the cause. SWINGS (Supporting Women in New Growth Skills)
  • Purpose: A place for women to meet others, practice English, learn new skills, share and exchange cultural experiences and learn about New Zealand way of life. SWINGS is a social and learning group for refugee and migrant women and their preschool children in the Hutt Valley.
Upper Hutt Women's Centre
  • A women-only centre which encourages development and empowerment for all women. Purpose: Women's education, health and wellbeing. Service: All women's issues addressed:  Education, personal development, fitness, health and wellbeing courses and workshops available; Low cost counselling; Free legal advice; Drop-in advocacy.

Widowed Separated & Divorced Support Group (WSD)
  • We are a support group for people who have lost a partner through death, separation or divorce. Our aim is to encourage self-healing and growth. We run 10-week courses up to three times per year, in Wellington, Lower Hutt, Kapiti and the Wairarapa. There is also a social programme for those who continue to be members after they have finished their courses.
