Toy Day

One of the most special days in our calendar of events is Toy Day.  When the time is nigh and the call goes out we marvel at the array of gifts that are donated for our children.  Preparation for the day gives opportunities for volunteering and there are always good numbers of our parents coming forward to assist with sorting and wrapping the toys.  On the day parents and children come together in a festive atmosphere with a cuppa and bikkies.

Quilt Day

Avebury House and their project called 'Hugs all Round' have benefited selected children of one parent families of Birthright for the past two years.  These beautifully crafted quilts are gifted by the quilt maker to a child.  The children then have morning tea and spend some time with the maker of their quilt.  Comments from the parents include;  “My children felt so special the day they got their quilt”, “My children love their quilt, it goes everywhere with them”.

Orana Park Visit

Orana Park is Christchurch's iconic wildlife park.  A trip to the park is often beyond the one parent family.  Joint sponsorship between the Park and Birthright ensured that our families were able to enjoy a wonderful day out.  A sausage sizzle lunch was enjoyed as much as the animals that the children were allowed to feed!
