Raised in Christchurch, Barbara attended Christchurch Teachers College and studied at Canterbury University and Massey University. She has a Diploma of Teaching and an LTCL in Speech and Drama. Barbara spent many years teaching in both South and North Island as her family moved with their farming ventures. Married for 38 years, Barbara now has 3 married children and a grandchild on the way. Barbara enjoys reading, crochet, bridge, sport and travel. Barbara started working for Birthright in 2005, and joined the National Executive in 2007. Barbara believes Birthright has a definite place in improving the lives of single parent families: “Birthright’s point of difference is in working with single parents and grandparents bringing up children alone. The support from Birthright makes a difference to the quality of life for these families.”
