Birthright New Zealand is governed by a National Executive of six members, but has recently co-opted a further four persons. The National Executive members are elected at an AGM for a term of up to three years, and meet at least six times a year. The current National Executive were elected in 2009.
The National Executive sets strategy and policy direction, approves business plans and budgets and ensures that the organisation continues to provide high-quality services.
The National Executive employs a National Manager, an Office Administrator and a Web Manager who are based in Wellington.
